The importance of biodiversity: the beating heart of Citrusmade

In the world we live in, we often become so immersed in the daily hustle and bustle that we fail to consider the precious fabric of biodiversity that surrounds us. For us at Citrusmade, the importance of biodiversity is not just an awareness but the beating heart of our corporate mission.

Founded in 2017 in Sicily, Citrusmade has embraced from the outset the idea that nature is our greatest resource. Specializing in the marketing of essential oils, flavors, juices, and fruit compounds derived from citrus fruits, we are committed to preserving and promoting the biodiversity of Mediterranean territories and beyond.

The fertile lands of Sicily and Calabria offer us a wealth of Mediterranean citrus fruits, some of which come from zero-kilometer organic farming. But we also go beyond borders to source raw materials from other continents such as Africa, Asia, and South America. Every drop of essential oil, every released aroma, every sip of juice is the result of a process that respects and values biodiversity.

But why should we care about biodiversity?

It is the very foundation of life on Earth. Biodiversity is what makes ecosystems resilient and adaptable to change. It is the source of food, medicine, materials, and inspiration for new scientific discoveries. Moreover, biodiversity contributes to the beauty and cultural richness of our planet, nourishing the human soul with its variety.

However, this biodiversity is now under threat. Climate change, deforestation, pollution, and other human activities are endangering millions of plant and animal species. As a company, we recognize our responsibility to protect and promote this heritage.

For this reason, we actively collaborate with local farmers and agricultural communities to encourage sustainable practices and organic farming. And through our business, we seek to raise awareness and inspire other companies and individuals to do their part in preserving the richness of life on Earth, committing ourselves to being stewards of biodiversity, celebrating its beauty, and protecting its fragility.
